Malaga - Almost in the center of the Costa del Sol, Malaga (pop. 524,000) is primarily a commercial city and a hub for transport, though it's not without attractions. It's slightly on the touristy side, and the beaches, at least in Malaga proper, are dreadfully polluted. (The fine, if crowded, beaches of the Costa del Sol stretch both west and east - the former marginally better, the latter marginally less developed.) Still, the area's scenery keeps it popular.
